Customizing the default Cygwin installation

If you do quite a few cygwin installations, you might want to customize the Default install so you don’t have to keep selecting the same packages.

You can do this by editing the setup.ini file inside the directory that contains the downloaded cygwin files. Open the file and for each package that you want to add to the Default installation find the category: tag and append the word Base.

Then when you select the Default install, it will include your added packages.
